Use OSF when collaborators need an accessible research workspace or sharing location.

OSF can provide a collaborator-accessible location for research objects, project resources, or data sharing when it fits the project and access requirements. It complements GitHub and computational storage; it does not replace the canonical subproject repository or the project Hub.

Choose the location that matches the data, agreement, preservation, and collaboration needs. Restricted or sensitive data should remain in an approved restricted system.
